Philip Douglas "Phil" Jackson (Deer Lodge, Montana, United States, September 17, 1945) is a former coach and former player of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a player, Phil Jackson won two NBA championships, and coach has the absolute record with 11 titles, surpassing the previous mark of 9 historic championships as coach Red Auerbach (Boston Celtics). The May 8, 2011 said goodbye to his coaching career with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals, they lost 4-0 against Dallas Mavericks. The March 18, 2014 is presented as the new president of the Knicks.2

Jackson is known for his application of the "triangle offense" conceived by Tex Winter, as well as a holistic training method that looks Eastern philosophy, which has earned him the nickname "Zen Master". (Jackson has cited the book of Robert Pirsig, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" as one of the guiding principles in your life). It has also served to own Native American spiritual practices, as outlined in his book "Sacred Hoops". He has written several books about his baloncestísticas successful strategies and different teams. In 1992 he was awarded the Roughrider Award distinction own state of North Dakota.
